Our Story
Surrounded by the water on Lobster Cove in the village of Annisquam sits Joshua and Ariel Smith's Talise - A restaurant they hope will embody a sense of place while capturing their love of hosting, cooking for others and celebrating life.
Joshua has been interested in the culinary world since his days of cooking with his great grandmother as a young child. His love of cooking led him to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York where he was recognized with a leadership scholarship and graduated at the top of his class.
Over the past 15 years, he has opened multiple restaurants and cooked alongside many well-known chefs such as Gabrielle Hamilton, Sean Brock, Ashley Christensen, and Michel Richard, whom Joshua would ultimately take his formative inspiration from. His love for cooking and passion for sourcing local ingredients brings a refreshing and exciting dynamic that we can’t wait to share with you on Lobster Cove.
Ariel has worked in the service industry for many years, mostly in restaurants around Boston, which is where she met Joshua. She spent the majority of her front of the house career at Neptune Oyster Bar in the North End before moving up to the North Shore. Ariel has a passion for hosting and is excited to grow with the community and welcome all to experience Talise and the beauty it has to offer!
